Trail-Building Techniques and Lots of Riding!

For the third time in WYNMBA’s recent history, the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) has recognized the trail building dedication of the Western New York Mountain Bicycling Association by granting WYNMBA a working weekend with a Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew.

Over the weekend of May 5-8 IMBA Trail Care Crew members Steve and Morgan Lommele, will visit Ellicottville, NY to conduct one of IMBA’s internationally-renowned trail building schools. On Saturday morning, May 7th, the crew will offer a classroom workshop at the Holiday Valley Ski Area Training Center, followed by lunch and an afternoon working session in which specific areas of WYNMBA’s jewel-in-the-making , the newly laid-out Mesa Trail, will be addressed.

IMBA’s Trail building school teaches IMBA’s philosophies and trains local volunteers and land managers on how to build and maintain sustainable singletrack. The school involves three hours in the classroom followed by about four hours in the field doing hands-on trail work and field instruction

WYNMBA and its’ members would like to extend an invitation to all mountain bikers who are interested in learning the techniques of sustainable trail building, forging new friendships and riding Ellicottville’s great trail network. Don’t forget to mark May 7th & 8th on your calendars!
