Mark you calendars, it’s time once again for the Annual General Meeting. It will be at Joyride150 again this year, only this year since they are open for business you’ll be able to ride, at no cost! Yes that’s right Joyride is throwing in free riding and bike rental to all DMBA members who attend the AGM. Joyride, and its owners, are big supporters of the DMBA so we don’t mind them trying to hook a few of you on jumps and pump tracks.

The full agenda is below. Feel free to submit any new agenda items. We’ll try to get to them but the AGM is agenda is pretty busy already.

First up, we have finally written up some by-laws. It’s not glamourous work, but it is necessary. We want them to be ratified at the AGM. To do this we need a simple majority vote to ratify them.

We also have to have an election. Returning directors serving out the remaining year of their 2 year term are:

Tom Hawks
Terry Sinclair
Steve Snodden

This year we have to elect 4 directors to serve a 2 year term (2011-2012). Nominees so far are:

J-P DeCouvrier
Jason Chow
Tom Hanrhan
Mark Linford
Mike Danilko

You’ll notice we have 5 nominees (for now) and only 4 spots available, so we actually have to have an election. We’re going to ask each nominee to say a few words (to win your votes

). Then everyone will vote for four directors. The votes will be tallied and the top four vote getters will be the new directors.

You’ll also notice that neither Scott Smith nor I are running for a directorship. The time has come for both of us to move on from our leadership role in the club.

If you think someone should be nominated and you don’t see them on the list send me their name, but please ask them first if they’ll stand for election. Don’t nominate Scott or I, we’ll decline if asked.
