I just got word that the Rouge Park is developing a Trails Master plan and everyone is invited to provide feedback. From the notice:
The Rouge Park Alliance has identified the need to prepare a Trails Master Plan for Rouge Park, with the long term goal of creating a trail network from Lake Ontario to the Oak Ridges Moraine. These meetings are the first public opportunity for park trail stakeholders and the public to learn more about the Trails Master Plan process for Rouge Park and provide initial input. Rouge Park staff and members of the consulting project team will be on hand to answer questions and receive comments and suggestions.
As all of you should know cycling in the Rouge Park is illegal, and has been for at least 15 years. Still despite this mountain biking, and even more casual riding has occurred this entire time. Kind of like on the Seaton Hiking Trail, in Greenwood CA. Maybe this open house is the first step towards changing that. The DMBA and IMBA have a lot of experience here and hopefully that will be recognized. Time will tell.
But first we need to get people out to these open houses. There are two:
- Wed, Oct 20, 5-9pm, Toronto Zoo (Atrium), 361-A Old Finch Ave, Scarborough
- Thur, Oct 21, 5-9pm, Markham Museum (Transportation Room), 9350 Hwy 48, Markham.
Each open house breaks down like this: 5-6:30pm map displays, 6:30pm presentation, 7-9pm workshop.
Please plan on attending at least one of them. If you can’t attend the entire 4 hours, at least show up for what you can attend.
