DMBA Trail Builders, Contributors and Members

You’re invited to a special Trail Builders Appreciation Ride on Wednesday, August 11, 6:30pm at Woodnewton

In May this year we had a great response to our request for contributions and volunteers to help repair and reroute Super Fly Ally, a favorite advanced single track in Durham Forest.  35 members contributed over $1,700 (that’s an average of $50) and 30 people came out to pitch in for a day to haul, dig, scrape, pound, rake and shape the earth into a more sustainable, fun, flowy and ridable trail that we have all been able to enjoy since then.

To recognize the efforts and generosity of those builders and contributors we’d like to invite you to join in a special club Trail  Builders/Contributors Appreciation Ride this Wednesday Aug. 11th in a neat, new, private riding area in Durham.  Adam Ruppel of Chico  Racing, a corporate DMBA member, has offered to host and guide us around the new, hand built, mountain bike trails at Woodnewton, the site of  this year’s Ontario Cup Cross Country Provincial Championships, just 5  minutes N/W of Durham Forest. This will be a rare opportunity to ride these cool new trails, designed and built by Sean Ruppel, as they are on private property and will only be open for a few special events a year.  Ours will be just the second group to have the opportunity to try them out.  The course is  fun, fast and flowy with a couple of good climbs to get your heart  going and some technical sections to keep you on your toes, but its  ridable for all levels.  And best of all, its all new, so around every bend is a new riding experience!

We have put this ride together as a special thank you to all those who  contributed $$ and/or their time and effort to the Durham Forest build in May and hope you will all come out to enjoy the fruits of someone else’s trail building labours.

In the spirit of inclusiveness, all members are welcome on the ride to share in the celebration.  If you weren’t able to help out earlier this year but would like to contribute to our trail building and show your appreciation for the work that was done, we would gratefully accept a contribution on the ride night to our Trail Building Fund.  This is an event open to DMBA members only.  If you have a friend you’d like to bring along they can join the DMBA on Wednesday night.

There is a ClubMTB ride posting.  If you are  able to join us please respond by signing onto that ride posting.

Come out and have fun.
