New for 2010 Substance Projects ( who brought you the Marathon Series) has introduced a new race series “Get Riding/Get Racing”. So far only two venues (of four) are confirmed:
- Dufferin Forest (Mansfield) on April 11, and
- Durham Forest on May 2.
For the Durham Forest even there is a very short 5km course for those looking to give racing a try but don’t want to get in over their head. So if you think having home trail advantage is in your favour come on out and try your hand in a race.
For those concerned about the impact of the event on the Forest rest assured that Substance Projects is a responsible promoter and will be working with the DMBA to leave the Forest in a better state than he found it.

- Learn-to-race clinics in advance of select events that are geared to helping first-time racers get ready for their first “Get Riding/Get Racing” event.
Confirmed dates are April 11 in the Dufferin County Forest (25 km and 50 km events only), north of Mansfield Outdoor Centre, billed as the “Homage to Ice” event and May 2 in Durham Forest as part of the Durham Forest Mountain Bike Festival. Two more races are planned for summer and fall.
“The one or two hour races are a great opportunity to have fun and tune your fitness,” says substance projects’ founder Dan Marshall. “ The ‘Get Riding/Get Racing’ series is your chance to try something new or to just race with your friends and family.”
