Some of our members will ride their bike all year long, in fact there has been a regular group ride happening at Harmony Creek for those brave souls to don’t mind the snow and ice. I know that some members have been heading to Joyride 150, but nothing on a regular basis. In more winterly sports some members do a lot of XC skiing in the same spots we ride: Glen Major, Walkers Woods, Durham Forest…
But we have another option for you.
Last year a number of DMBA members started snowshoeing each and every Saturday morning. The trail head would move around the Uxbridge area, and you got to ’shoe some fantastic properties. It gives you a different perspective when you’re moving slower and don’t have to stick to the trail. For those looking for something new to try, why don’t you give snowshoeing a go? You can pick up a good pair of snowshoes from MEC for about $170. Dress in layers, bring some water and a snack and have a good ’shoe.
Here’s some photos from a recent outing.
