On the weekend of May 9th and 10th members from the DMBA traveled to Sir Sam’s Ski Resort to assist in the building of 4.5 km of mountain bike trail. Despite the questionable weather on Saturday, it was a fantastic weekend and a great time was had by all. The owners of Sir Sam’s were great hosts. I think I gained a couple of pounds from the copious amounts of good food. Thanks Angela and Chris.
In February, the DMBA was excited to learn of Sir Sam’s intentions to open a new mountain bike park and immediately made contact with the owners to offer our assistance to make their idea a reality. The park will become a great riding destination for cross country and downhill enthusiasts alike. This year they will be hosting an O-Cup Downhill race. I have already booked a short holiday at Sir Sam’s resort and I am looking forward to riding the new trails. Check out their website and take the whole family up. The view from the top of the ski hill is amazing as it looks out over both Eagle Lake and Moose Lake.
