As mentioned here, we are beginning a long term trail repair and improvement program in the Durham Forest. It all starts with the first build on May 30th. We’ll be repairing a single track that was impacted by the Summer 2007 logging operation. We’ll be removing some trees, and rerouting around some troublesome unsustainable sections. The end result will be a trail that is not only sustainable, but also more fun that what is already there. Please lend us a hand on this weekend!

Our success depends upon the mountain biking, hiking and riding communities’ support.  Please lend us a hand on this weekend! The land manager (LSRCA) is already impressed with the mountain biking community, lets really knock their socks of by turning out in big numbers to give back to the trails.

Come out and learn how to build sustainable trails, meet other trail users, and make a contribution to the trails you use.  Give us a few hours of your time and energy and together we’ll bring positive change to the trails we love to walk and ride. Bring some friends to work with and go for a well earned walk or ride together afterwards.

  • Meet at 9:30am at the Durham Forest Main Tract Access Gate on the West Side of Lakeridge Road just North of Houston Road.
  • Dress in layers for the weather.  Bring good footwear & work gloves.
  • Durham Forest has lots of poison ivy, please wear pants!
  • Tools, snacks and water will be provided, but please bring a lunch.
  • High school students earn your volunteer hours. Bring form to sign.

This project is under the direction of the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA), The Regional Municipality of Durham with support from the Durham Mountain Biking Association, Uxbridge Horsemen Association, & Oak Ridges Trail Association.
