EDIT: I have it from a reliable source that this has been cancelled and no new date set.

You may recall the TRCA did a user survey in the Spring. Well they’re back at it. This time they want to get an understanding of who uses the property during the Winter months. They are looking for a little assistance from us. Details are below:

East Duffins Community Event / Blitz Monitoring Day

The TRCA winter recreational monitoring session for the East Duffins Creek is fast approaching! For the winter session, we are collapsing the survey into a one day community event. Monitoring shifts will be one hour in duration, performed in pairs at one of five trailheads (assigned) and will be accompanied by an interpretive winter hike by a TRCA naturalist (optional).

Date: Saturday, February 7th/09 (bad weather date: Sunday, February 8th/09) – we would ask that you are available on both days.
Time: 8am – 2pm. Your commitment: 1.5 – 3.0 hrs (3.0hrs includes hike).
Meeting Place: Towers Trailhead Parking Lot (unless providing own transportation to a previously assigned trailhead).
To bring: WARM OUTER WEAR including snow shoes for hike, time keeping device, snacks as required, travel mug, cell phone (if you have one).
Provided: Monitoring materials, hot drinks, snacks.

Supervised children are welcome!

The information collected during these monitoring sessions will inform the East Duffins Headwaters Management Plan Update. The more volunteers we have for our Blitz Monitoring Day, the better informed we will be about winter usage of the Glen Major Forest and Walker Woods. We would greatly appreciate your help.
